A Rough Draft

As a novice and pretty inexperienced sewer, I attempted to do something a little crazy. Make up my own pattern.  It really doesn't seem like it'd be that hard (and maybe it isn't if you really know what you're doing) but it turned out to take a little more work than I was expecting. I wanted to make some baby mary jane's but I'm too cheap to buy any patterns for them. So I decided I'd do a little trial and error until I got them right.  Here's my first rough draft.

I will have to adjust the pattern a little bit but you get the idea.  I also will need to find some volunteer baby feet to test out the sizes on. I brought them with me to church this morning. We're still pretty new and I haven't met many of the people who have babies, so I thought it might be awkward for me to walk up to a random person and ask to barrow their baby's feet.

My sister-in-law has also let me help finish up my niece's room. She's getting a big girl room. With Hope being 8 months pregnant and working, she really doesn't have time to work on Hannah's room. Here's a sneak peak at something I worked on.
Notice the lamps and the shoes match? I had some left over's from the lamps and just loved the fabric. I will be using this a lot! I'll post more on her room make over when we get it all set up next weekend.

I'll leave you with a picture of Nix, of course.
She loves chewing on those nasty, smelly hoof things so much that she drooled all over the bed. eww. But look at that face...
