31 Weeks: 3D & a baby shower

Claire in 3D at 31 weeks
Last week we decided to do an elective 3D/4D ultrasound. We wanted clear confirmation of gender and we didn't mind getting to see our baby again. Previously, when we checked for gender, she had her legs crossed really tight and wouldn't move them. But from the shots we got, they said girl. There still was uncertainty and  Matt had vivid dreams it was a boy. Then, I suppose I was getting a little worried we'd end up with a boy in a girly room and clothes. With that on my mind, I had a similar dream. I found a decent deal on this ultrasound package and we made an appointment.

We had a 20 minute ultrasound in 4D (movement) and got a DVD of the whole thing. They gave us several 3D pictures too. We were able to see her cute little face!! The clarity of the picture depends on the amount of amniotic fluid between the baby and the uterine wall and the baby's position. That is why there are black areas toward the top of the picture - that is where her head is touching the uterine wall. Since there's no fluid between the two at that spot, there's no image.

What did we learn and see?
1) She's beautiful (yep, I'm a little bias)!  The tech thinks she looks like Matt in the mouth and nose. I love her full lips :)
2) She's head down. Let's hope she stays that way since they don't deliver breech babies these days except through c-section.
3) She's a snuggler and sleeps through everything. Once again, she had her legs crossed tightly and would not move despite any poking, proding, and turning.
4) She's still a girl! The tech agreed so we're going to go with it :)
5) She's got lots of hair! Bring on the bows!
6) She weighs about 3 pounds right now and is measuring almost a week ahead of her due date (but still in average rage).

Baby Shower
 Erin, Claire, & I at 31 weeks

Last weekend, we went to Louisiana for a baby shower.  Aunt Jamie and Emily hosted a beautiful shower for baby Claire. We sure are blessed with wonderful family and friends who love this baby girl! As soon as I got home, I showed off all the goodies to Matt. He especially got a kick out of the little baby clothes. We're blown away by the generosity! Thanks everyone!
