Photoberfest Week 2: Kids

If you miss last weeks post and don't know what Photoberfest is, check it out here.

The theme this week is "kids".   If you know me you know I love babies and kids. I want to steer my nursing career more towards babies, I sew baby things, and someday I will photograph more babies.. even if it's just my own.

Katie Evans blog post today gave some good tips on photographing kids and I hope to remember those tips when I have some kids around. However, we are in a new city and haven't made any friends with babies yet.  The other option of photographing random kids seems a bit risky. These days, if I were to go snap some photos at a playground I'd probably be taken into question.

So to avoid risking my freedom and clean record, I'll just submit some pictures I've taken in the past to this weeks Photoberfest.

Some of my all time favorites of kids are of Matt and H as seen in this post.

I found a picture of baby T who I used to babysit for. I took this picture on my iPhone 3G the first day I got it. The quality is very poor but I'm in love with the framing and how cute he is.

While searching back through old photos, I rediscovered my photo album from my second trip to Africa. I went to Uganda as one of the first teams helping to get Restoration Gateway started. Wow. I sure do miss that place and those precious people. I wish I had known more about photography before going but I'm glad I got the pictures I did. I have a feeling I will be entering more of them into Photoberfest (especially on the "action" themed week.)

Sorry for the terrible quality and grainy photo. This was taken on my old iPhone the day I got it. I've tried to edit it and reduce the noise but this might be the best it gets.

This girl joined several women to preform some tribal dances for us on one of my trips to Uganda.

I love this photo for some reason - maybe it's the tree, maybe it's the tattered clothes, or the baby tied onto this child's back.

The look in this girls eyes just breaks my heart... but I promise I have about 10 pictures of her with a smile that could light up this world.

I snapped this one from the window of the bus. Bath time on the porch.

I love the colors in this one and the natural/candid poses.

Ok, I have to cut myself off here or I will end up posting the whole album.  I hope you all enjoyed the pictures. Go vote for your favorites (hopefully mine!) HERE.
