SYTYCS Week 2: From Bed Skirt to Lamp Shade

First, Thank you all who voted for me in week one!!! I can hardly believe that I'm in the top 9 of 127 entries!! The other ladies in the competition are incredibly talented and I can't wait to see what that came up with for this week's challenge.  Our theme this week is "repurpose".

I had planned to do a really special project and I was so excited about it. However, I ran into a few obstacles before even getting started and there was no way I could get it done by the deadline. I had to come up with a new idea but I'm really please with how it turned out.

I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest. A couple of days ago, I saw this beautiful lamp that was pinned from Anthropologie. Come to find out, it's $98.  Seriously?!? NINETY- EIGHT DOLLARS for a lamp shade!? Not going to happen.  I chose to make my own out of an old bed skirt and beat up lamp shade for much, much less.

I went from this...

to this...

Isn't it beautiful?  Ok, the sunflare, the flowers, the saving of $90, and recycling sure do add to it's beauty.  Want to see more?

While I still think the anthro shade is incredibly cute, it's also incredibly expensive.

Be sure to check out Mommy by day... Crafter by night to see the other entries.  The entries and voting poll will be posted on Wednesday (1.11.12) at 9 ET.  If you like what you see, please go vote for me!

This is my favorite from the contest. It would go cute with the ruffle burlap pillow I made last week for the contest. I may have to copy you!
