Claire: 7 month

Claire: 7 Months

Age: 7 months (she's really 7 1/2 months right now since I'm a little behind)
Height: 28 inches (95th percentile)
Weight: About 20 lbs (90th percentile)

Milestones: Last time  I posted she was just starting to sit up on her own. She now sits up really well. She still scoots, squirms, and rolls all around but doesn't crawl on all fours yet. Her crawl is like an inch worm. She scrunches up and sticks her butt in the air like an inch worm then flattens out. Now days, she mostly pushes herself backwards though. She got her 2 bottom teeth and is eating solids now.

Sleep:  She's taking longer naps these days which gives me more time to be productive... or just relax. :)

Best Moment: Watching her do new things is always fun. We've enjoyed her funny faces as she tries solid food, the surprised look when she splashes in the pool and gets water on her face, and all the laughter. One of the best moments is really a new trend.. (and it's probably more than you're wanting to know but being that I'm a nurse and a mom, these things tend to be normal conversation now days).. Claire has been pooping on the potty! She still wets some diapers but we have been successful in doing all poops on the potty and most pees.  Yes, I thought it was a little crazy too but her babysitter (who has two kids of her own) has been doing a little "Elimination Communication" with her while she's there. I didn't think it would be something I did here. I thought it would be time consuming and a little too early. But Claire had her first pee on the potty at her house at 4.5 months old. I figured one day we would need a kiddy potty so went ahead and I got one with a gift card. Now that she's sitting up so well and because we're always looking for new things to do around here, I decided to let her sit on it. Since then, she's surprised me so much in how quickly she's caught on.

Worst Moment: She got her first sunburn right after the last update. We had gone to play outside on a slightly breezy and very over cast day. I put sun screen on her and had a hat but since it didn't seem very hot or sunny, I wasn't too concerned with keeping either of them on. Her arms were a little pink but her head was burnt! I felt TERRIBLE!

Health: She had some clear nasal drainage and was sneezing and coughing for 2-3 days but I think it was related to teething.

Eating: Still primarily nursing but we started some solids like I mentioned. She's had avocado, sweet potato, carrots, apples, watermelon, banana, and a strawberry.  Her favorites are carrots, watermelon, and banana.

Likes:  She likes a lot of things these days: jumping, swinging, swimming, buttons, zippers, tags, hair, earrings, hats, remotes, cell phones, our dog Nix, and Curious George.

 loves remotes
Dislikes: Still doesn't like threading her arms through clothes or the car seat straps. She also doesn't like being messed with while she's eating. Do not take food away from this girl!

Other Happenings:

I won from an online give away and Claire loves it. I wanted to wear Claire but just hadn't found a carrier that I loved. This one is it! I wear her quite often now.

We also made a gift for Matt for his first Father's Day. We painted wooden letters, took pictures, and made this collage. We framed it so he can display it in his office at work. He loves it :)

Matt's Father's Day gift

We had a family vacation with Matt's family. We stayed at this awesome house mansion on lake LBJ in the hill country. It was a family reunion and celebration for his grandfather's 85th birthday. The place was incredible. It was right on the water. It had a beautiful pool with a slide and the second story balcony had a gate we could open and jump from. His grandparents even surprised us and jumped from it. We also rented a boat and did some skiing and tubing. It was so fun for all the cousins to be together. I hope we can go back there some day.

Claire saw her first fireworks. Our night owl had no problem staying up to watch some fireworks on the 4th and that weekend. The people in our neighborhood put on a pretty great show.  I was surprised Claire didn't mind the loud noises at all. I remember hating fireworks when I was little because they were too loud. Claire also seems to hate loud noises - like baseball games, the flush of an automatic toilet, or those air blowing hand dryers in public restrooms. But she hardly flinched for the fireworks.
