Something Sweet

It was a nearly 24 hour work day with a super sweet ending! 

I woke up at 5:40 am and went to work. A 12 hour shift at the hospital then came home. When I got here, our friends Kristen and Tim were already at the house. Kristen was coming over so that her and I could bake a cake. But not just any ole cake. This cake was her baby boy's first birthday cake!  We had been planning for weeks. Brainstorming and planing.  Now it was time. 

Kristen wanted a #1 shaped cake with his favorite things from his first year of life on it.  After much debate and more brainstorming, we had a plan.  We were up til 4 am working on this cake!!! Here are of few pictures of our creation. 

We felt like professionals with all these decorating tools.  I did the "shells" along the bottom while Kristen did the "beads" around the top.

I've never seen such focus! Kristen did a great job writing on the cake.

And here it is all decorated.  The little circles around the cake have pictures of his favorite things.  We left them off for the transport. I think it turned out so cute.

Here is the finished product at the party! Happy birthday, Corben!

We made this little one out of the scraps so that Corben could have his own cake to play in :)

A very long day but so worth it. I had a great time creating this special cake with a great friend.
